Black Eyeliner

The most important thing to remember is to avoid cheap or unknown brands of black eyeliner. If you want a quality line that lasts all day you're going to have to go for well-known name brands. You don't want to skimp on this one or else you'll end up regretting it. A good eyeliner won't be watery, but it also won't come out too thick. No-name brands seems to do one or the other -- either run down your face, or come out too thick no matter how careful you are.

Most people want to draw lines with a pencil since it is easier for a novice to do. You want to avoid pencils, unless you're stuck in the 80's. Pencil eyeliner wears off too quickly and has the tendency to smudge easily.

Granted, there are still valid uses for the pencil type. Those who can manage to never touch or rub their eyes will find the style easier to manage.

The best black eye liner out there for the dramatic look is the liquid type. If you're serious about your beauty and skin care there are many different ways you can apply liner to your eyes.

Some of the best brands are Mac, Revlon, CoverGirl, and Mary Kay. Don't disregard Revlon because you see their products in more stores. They have an excellent dark black liquid eyeliner that won't break the bank.

Always make sure that the product you choose complements your features. The color of your complexion as well as other looks including your facial structure matter a lot

How to Apply Black Liquid Eyeliner

It is important that you do not apply any other make up before, especially not eye shadow. The reason for this is that other cosmetics will most likely cause conflict. Powder products are eyeliner's worst enemy.

Always apply in a well lit room and make sure you watch yourself carefully in front of a clean mirror while you put it on.

Step 1: Grab the lateral edge of your eyelid and pull it to the side. Be sure not to pull too tight or you'll end up with an overly thick line.

Step 2: Stretch the eyelid -- pull slightly, stretching the eyelid so you can prepare to draw on the rim.

Step 3: Starting at the lateral edge (where your finger is), apply the liquid towards the median edge by your nose. Be extra careful when moving in, you want the line to look thinner as you get closer to the tear duct. In order get a thin line, lighten up on the pressure near this area. Remember, if you go too light you can always darken. It's better to apply a light layer first and go over it than draw too dark and have to start all over.
